About the Role
You will set technical direction for payment orchestration, corridor and partner integrations, FX, quoting, payment lifecycles, and settlement confirmation. You will design resilient regulated controls, establish correctness standards, lead incident response, and build reliable, observable payment flows. You will mentor senior engineers and lead architecture reviews for high-risk changes.
Requirements
- Senior or staff-level backend engineering experience
- Experience building or operating production payment systems
- Experience integrating banking, payment, or FX partners
- Knowledge of idempotency, exactly-once effects, retries, and critical-data handling
- Distributed systems expertise
- Reliability, performance, and scalability expertise
- Technical communication and cross-functional leadership
- TypeScript
- Node.js
- Cloud infrastructure
Responsibilities
- Own technical direction for payment orchestration, integrations, FX, quoting, payment lifecycles, and settlement confirmation
- Design configuration-driven architecture for corridor expansion
- Lead engineering of safeguarding and transaction-monitoring controls with audit trails
- Define standards for idempotency, exactly-once effects, safe retries, and API evolution
- Design resilience, failover, routing, cut-off handling, and reconciliation for external partners
- Own reliability and observability for payment flows
- Lead incident response for stuck payments and partner outages
- Lead architecture reviews for corridors, integrations, and high-risk changes
- Mentor senior engineers
- Partner with product, compliance, risk, and banking partnerships
