About the Role

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems, high-performance APIs, database architecture, caching, and reliability systems powering Blockworks' research and media products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of professional backend engineering experience using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience building reliable APIs handling over 1 million requests per day.
• Proficiency with MySQL and PostgreSQL data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience implementing Redis or similar caching technologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and clean-code skills.
• NestJS and TypeORM experience preferred.
• PHP migration experience, AWS familiarity, ML/AI exposure, and crypto experience are pluses.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and ship backend systems that scale to millions of requests per day.
• Design, implement, and optimize APIs for research and media products.
• Own MySQL and PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and reliability.
• Implement caching and performance strategies with Redis or similar tools.
• Lead backend feature development from planning through production release.
• Diagnose and resolve scalability, performance, and reliability issues.
• Improve testing, monitoring, and observability across the stack.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and data teams on integrations.
