About the Role

You will assess and mitigate environmental and social risks in lending and advisory portfolios. You will conduct due diligence on high-risk transactions, develop risk frameworks and policies, advise clients and coverage teams, integrate climate risk into assessments, monitor market developments, deliver training, and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • Experience in environmental and social risk management, sustainability consulting, or ESG banking
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of Equator Principles IV, IFC Performance Standards, and World Bank Group EHS Guidelines
  • Experience with sector-specific environmental and social challenges
  • Understanding of banking products, deal structures, and credit-risk processes
  • Knowledge of AI tools in a professional environment
  • Stakeholder-influencing and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental and social due diligence for complex and high-risk transactions
  • Identify key risks and define mitigation measures
  • Develop and implement sector-specific position statements, risk frameworks, and exclusion lists
  • Integrate climate-risk considerations into transaction assessments
  • Conduct ESG Risk Questionnaire assessments and approvals
  • Advise coverage teams and clients on ESG risk management and solutions
  • Negotiate environmental and social clauses and action plans in loan documentation
  • Collaborate to integrate environmental and social factors into underwriting and investment processes
  • Develop climate-risk methodologies, sustainability tools, and monitoring practices
  • Monitor environmental and social regulations and market developments
  • Deliver ESG risk-assessment training and mentor junior staff
