Scientist / Senior Scientist, tLNP Formulation and Delivery
Basecamp Research is an AI-biology company building the BaseData genomic dataset and EDEN biological foundation models for therapeutic design.
About Basecamp Research
The company uses proprietary evolutionary sequence data to train EDEN foundation models, including models that can be accessed through Claude for antibiotic-peptide design and immunogenicity prediction. Its therapeutic platform also includes AI-Programmable Gene Insertion (aiPGI).

About the Role
You will own the end-to-end design, formulation, bioconjugation, and physicochemical characterization of targeted lipid nanoparticles. You will develop in vitro and in vivo evaluation approaches, coordinate lipid synthesis with CROs, document findings, and collaborate on iterative designs for genetic-medicine delivery.
Requirements
- PhD in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field with 1–2 years of relevant experience for Scientist level or 3+ years for Senior Scientist level; an MSc with equivalent hands-on laboratory experience will be considered.
- Hands-on experience with LNP assembly platforms and nanoparticle surface bioconjugation techniques.
- Experience engineering nanoparticle biodistribution and tropism through lipid composition, molar ratio, or structural lipid changes.
- Experience with LNP analytical techniques including DLS and encapsulation assays.
- Hands-on experience with targeted LNPs or LNPs and biomaterial conjugation.
Responsibilities
- Develop targeted LNP technology for extrahepatic tissue tropism.
- Design and execute tLNP formulations containing nucleic acid payloads.
- Direct third-party CROs to synthesize lipids of interest.
- Perform surface modification and bioconjugation to attach targeting moieties to LNPs.
- Conduct routine and advanced LNP analytics.
- Characterize LNP formulations to support optimization and quality assessment.
- Develop, optimize, and execute in vitro assays with the cell biology team.
- Design in vivo biodistribution and pharmacokinetic studies with the innovation team.
- Maintain ELN records, author technical reports, generate patent disclosure data, and present findings.
- Collaborate with cell biology, innovation, and computational teams to inform iterative design.
