About the Role
You will act as the technical lead for an emerging research programme focused on making particle profiling ubiquitous. You will help shape programme strategy, review proposals and technical milestones, lead technical discussions, and provide evidence-based advice. You will build relationships across the research ecosystem, represent the programme at events, support Creator teams, and contribute to funding, operational, and technical-culture initiatives. You will also maintain continuity across programmes and identify opportunities to accelerate research translation.
Requirements
- First-hand exposure to particle-profiling technologies
- First-hand exposure to field measurements of aerosols for environmental or human-health applications
- Understanding of aerosol chemistry and real-world applications
- Understanding of bottlenecks in existing analytical methods
- Understanding of the value of particle-profiling information for end users
- Ability to navigate diverse technical projects
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts and timelines for diverse stakeholders
- Ability to learn and adapt rapidly across scientific disciplines
- Ability to identify non-obvious opportunities and risks
- Ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and interrogate ideas effectively
- Scientific qualification, preferably a PhD or deeper technical experience in aerosol science or instrumentation development
Responsibilities
- Shape and deliver a particle-profiling research programme with the Programme Director and Programme Specialist
- Review project proposals, grant applications, and technical milestones
- Lead and contribute to technical discussions, project meetings, workshops, and formal reviews
- Provide evidence-based technical insight to inform programme decisions and strategy
- Communicate complex scientific ideas to stakeholders
- Identify emerging technologies, people, ideas, opportunities, and risks
- Co-author white papers, open calls, and technical reviews
- Support Creator teams and track project delivery against technical milestones
- Represent the programme at events, workshops, and talks
- Build relationships with researchers, laboratories, founders, and Activation Partners
- Contribute to funding models, budgets, tooling, and operational mechanisms
- Share best practices and strengthen scientific and operational culture
- Travel within the UK and internationally as necessary to support projects
