About the Role
You will partner with a research lead to plan and execute technical research. You will manage execution, performance and careers, develop team members, lead recruiting, enable cross-team collaboration, communicate results, and maintain a deep understanding of interpretability research.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of management experience leading technical research or engineering teams
- Background in machine learning, AI, or a related technical field
- People management experience
- Coaching, mentorship, performance evaluation, career development, and technical hiring experience
- Project management skills
- Prioritization and cross-functional coordination skills
- Experience managing through ambiguity and change
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and/or experience
Responsibilities
- Partner with a research lead on direction, planning, execution, hiring, and people development
- Improve execution speed, quality, and operating processes
- Coach team members and support career development
- Lead recruiting planning, process improvements, sourcing, and closing
- Support collaboration with other teams
- Communicate team updates and results to leadership
- Maintain a deep understanding of technical work and AI safety implications
