Gauntlet provides institutional-grade vault curation and risk management services for DeFi protocols through quantitative optimization and simulation modeling.

New York, NY 10013, United States
About Gauntlet

Gauntlet offers risk-adjusted DeFi yields through curated vault strategies and applied research services for blockchain protocols. The platform utilizes agent-based simulations, quantitative modeling, and real-time monitoring to optimize protocol parameters, manage market risk, and curate lending, restaking, and perpetual futures vaults across multiple blockchains. Gauntlet's infrastructure processes over 400 million data points daily to inform risk management decisions for protocols securing billions in total value locked.

Skills

About the Role

You will design, build, and operate the strategies behind onchain vault products, taking each strategy from thesis and design doc through implementation, simulation, deployment, and live operation. You will optimize strategies through signals research, execution optimization, gas-aware rebalancing across tokens and chains, and liquidity and duration management. You will run protocol and asset due diligence, evaluating new protocols, collateral assets, and chains for inclusion in strategies. You will own risk parameters such as supply caps, LLTV settings, concentration limits, VaR-based exposure models, and automated de-risking logic. You will integrate new protocols and chains by building and validating adapters for lending markets, DEX aggregators, and bridges, verifying strategy behavior against forked-chain simulation. You will monitor what you build, extend risk-monitoring and alerting systems, and participate in the on-call rotation for the strategies you own. You will also partner with growth, capital markets, and client teams on new vault and strategy launches.

Requirements

  • Track record of building quantitative systems that run in production, such as algorithmic trading, portfolio optimization, market making, or risk systems
  • Typically 2-8 years of experience at a trading firm, asset manager, fintech, or crypto-native company
  • Strong Python and solid software-engineering fundamentals including testing and code review
  • Applied quantitative skills in optimization, statistics, and simulation
  • Comfort with data infrastructure including SQL and building or consuming data pipelines
  • Production ownership experience debugging live systems under pressure
  • Clear technical communication
  • Bonus: hands-on DeFi experience with lending protocols, ERC-4626 vaults, AMMs, or oracle systems
  • Bonus: Solidity/EVM literacy, forked-chain simulation with anvil, or non-EVM experience such as Solana
  • Bonus: on-chain operational experience with multisig workflows, transaction signing infrastructure, and bridging
  • Bonus: TypeScript and familiarity with a modern data stack such as BigQuery, Dagster, Hex, GCP, or Kubernetes
  • Bonus: experience with risk modeling for volatile or thinly-traded assets including VaR, liquidation modeling, and stress testing

  • Verify strategy behavior against forked-chain simulation before capital deployment
  • Extend risk-monitoring and alerting systems and define paging conditions
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for owned strategies
  • Partner with growth, capital markets, and client teams on new vault and strategy launches
