About Metagov
Metagov cultivates tools, practices, and communities that enable self-governance in the digital age. Its activities span community, research, and participatory operations, including governance infrastructure, DAO standards, online-community tools, knowledge infrastructure, datasets, seminars, and public-interest AI initiatives. Metagov was founded in 2019 and officially spun out as an independent nonprofit in January 2020.

About the Role
This community-and-coordination role supports Public AI's open-source AI strategy through relationship building, convenings, project management, contributor onboarding, and ecosystem engagement.
Requirements
- Existing relationships in the open-source AI community
- Strong project management and coordination instincts
- Comfort running and maintaining a CRM or equivalent system
- Genuine community-building energy
- Working familiarity with the open-source AI stack, including foundation models, inference, fine-tuning, evaluation, and open weights
- Familiarity with AI governance, digital sovereignty, and openness debates
- Comfort convening and elevating others rather than self-promotion
- Bonus experience organizing an open-source community, foundation, working group, or recurring convening
- Bonus experience across multiple open-source projects
- Bonus existing platform or following in the open-source AI world
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with open-source AI builders, maintainers, and contributors
- Operate and maintain a CRM of open-source AI contacts
- Design and implement convenings, working sessions, and shared collaboration spaces
- Project-manage cross-organizational collaborations and track commitments
- Connect people and projects through targeted introductions
- Strengthen open-source presence at conferences and in community spaces
- Support contributor onboarding and community engagement on GitHub
