About the Role
You will independently procure complex robot components, manage supplier relationships and negotiations, and ensure hardware arrives on time, on quality, and within budget. You will improve material-tracking workflows, assess supply risks, support make-versus-buy decisions, and help transition hardware from prototypes to volume production.
Requirements
- Experience in technical procurement, buying, or supply-chain management in a hardware-centric industry
- Experience managing and negotiating substantial purchase orders and vendor contracts
- Ability to understand technical drawings and engineering specifications for mechanical and electrical components
- Ability to make hardware design trade-offs, including make-versus-buy and OEM-versus-ODM decisions
- Exceptional written and verbal English
Responsibilities
- Manage communications with technical suppliers regarding pricing, quality issues, lead times, and contract terms
- Purchase PCBs, custom cables, and metallic and non-metallic robot components
- Improve material-tracking workflows in preparation for ERP implementation
- Partner with the CTO and Head of Supply Chain to translate engineering requirements into production plans
- Identify supply-chain risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Support make-versus-buy decisions and prepare cost-justification studies
- Manage initial vendor technical reviews during the transition to volume production
- Ensure procured parts meet durability, performance, and safety requirements
- Propose corrections to hardware specifications
- Optimize validation and incoming-hardware test practices
- Track supplier deliveries for quality and timeliness
- Maintain supplier relationships and feed industrial insights into the engineering backlog
- Cooperate with suppliers in Europe, China, and the USA
