About the Role
You will manage cost, schedule, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for capital projects. You will validate estimates, monitor contractors, review payment documentation, maintain financial models, communicate project status to executives, identify risks, and travel to sites to verify progress and billing alignment.
Requirements
- 4–7+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, construction finance, or FP&A supporting large capital construction projects
- Data center, mission-critical, energy, or heavy industrial experience is strongly preferred
- Direct experience on projects with total installed cost of $500M+
- Ability to influence project managers, contractors, and senior stakeholders through data-driven analysis
- Written and verbal communication skills for executive audiences
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Willingness and ability to travel 25%+ across North America
- Project management information systems such as Procore, Kahua, e-Builder, or Unifier
- NetSuite, QuickBooks, or comparable ERP and accounting platforms
- Advanced Excel
- Power BI or comparable dashboarding tools
- Primavera P6 or MS Project
Responsibilities
- Own budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, change management, contingency management, and cash flow projections for capital projects
- Develop and validate project estimates through conceptual, feasibility, GMP, and buyout stages
- Reconcile estimates against actual costs
- Monitor contractor schedules and cost reports
- Analyze cost and schedule variances and drive corrective action
- Review pay applications, change orders, and invoices before approval
- Partner on capital planning, accruals, monthly close, and project-cost reconciliation
- Maintain financial models for capital commitments, funding draws, and reforecasts
- Support annual and multi-year construction capital budgets
- Prepare and present weekly project status and cost reports to executive leadership
- Deliver monthly portfolio reporting on budget health, forecast changes, risks, and required decisions
- Maintain reporting cadences, templates, and KPIs
- Identify and escalate cost, schedule, scope, and commercial issues
- Challenge unsupported forecasts, change orders, and schedules
- Travel to active project sites to validate progress and percent complete against billings
