About the Role
You will serve as the technical authority for electrical infrastructure from power source to IT rack. You will lead architecture, design, construction, commissioning, and lifecycle improvement; define safety and protection approaches; evaluate technologies; direct consultants; support operational readiness; and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience delivering mission-critical electrical infrastructure
- Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage AC systems and high-power DC distribution
- Knowledge of power electronics and conversion technologies
- Knowledge of electrical fault behaviour and protection
- Knowledge of utility systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, battery energy storage, and power distribution
- Experience designing electrical interfaces for high-density computing or dynamic mission-critical loads
- Proficiency with ETAP or SKM PowerTools
- Experience with PSCAD, EMTP-RV, PLECS, PSIM, or MATLAB Simulink
- Familiarity with NFPA, IEEE, IEC, UL, CSA, and local electrical standards
- Experience directing consultants and supporting construction, testing, and commissioning
- Willingness to travel approximately 10%
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority for data center electrical infrastructure
- Lead electrical architecture from conceptual studies through lifecycle improvement
- Develop electrical standards, specifications, reference designs, qualification plans, and acceptance criteria
- Define electrical protection and safety approaches for AC and DC systems
- Develop resilient power solutions for dynamic AI and high-performance computing loads
- Evaluate power conversion, protection, control, and energy-storage technologies
- Lead technical due diligence, design reviews, failure-mode assessments, testing, inspections, and commissioning
- Direct engineering consultants and technology partners
- Manage owner project requirements and review technical deliverables
- Support construction delivery, issue resolution, and project risk management
- Support operational readiness, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance
