About the Role

You will use mobile equipment to excavate, farm, and handle bituminous waste coal fines and coarse waste coal. You will reclaim rejected material, use ash to restore the site, neutralize rejected materials, and amend soil. You will operate and maintain site equipment, support site upkeep, monitor fuel-site activities, and follow safety, health, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five to 10 years of experience in surface mining or surface reclamation.
  • Understanding of heavy-equipment operation and mine-site reclamation activities.
  • Ability to monitor and record fuel-site activities.
  • Ability to recognize problems and communicate them to management.

Responsibilities

  • Excavate waste coal and farm waste coal fines.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Excavate and store clay for final cover.
  • Place, compact, and grade ash.
  • Mix soil for final cover and plant grasses to establish vegetative cover.
  • Service mobile equipment and perform mechanical maintenance work.
  • Maintain the site, including roads, culverts, grading, and housekeeping.
  • Ensure equipment and site conditions meet MSHA safety and health standards.
  • Follow safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Comply with state, federal, and local environmental laws.
  • Control dust, erosion, sedimentation, and water treatment.
  • Control fuel quality through waste coal sampling, top sizing, and tramp-material management.
  • Operate front-end loaders, bulldozers, track excavators, water trucks, dump trucks, pumps, and other supporting equipment safely.
