About the Role
Use mobile equipment to excavate, farm, and handle bituminous waste coal fines and coarse waste coal; reclaim rejected material; restore the site with ash and soil amendment; maintain equipment and site infrastructure; and follow safety, health, and environmental requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five to 10 years of experience in surface mining or surface reclamation.
- Thorough understanding of heavy-equipment operation and mine-site reclamation activities.
- Ability to monitor and record fuel-site activities.
- Ability to recognize problems and communicate them to management.
Responsibilities
- Excavate and farm waste coal fines.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Excavate and store clay for final cover and place, compact, and grade ash.
- Mix soil for final cover and plant grasses.
- Service mobile equipment and perform mechanical maintenance.
- Maintain roads, culverts, grading, and site housekeeping.
- Ensure equipment and site conditions meet MSHA standards.
- Comply with environmental laws and control dust, erosion, sedimentation, and water treatment.
- Control fuel quality through waste coal sampling, top sizing, and tramp-material management.
- Safely operate loaders, bulldozers, excavators, water trucks, dump trucks, pumps, and other equipment.
