About the Role
You will lead thermal analysis, design, and integration for unmanned aircraft avionics and custom power electronics. You will model heat transfer and fluid flow, support design decisions, plan and analyze tests, communicate findings, and address thermal risks.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- Internship or engineering club experience in avionics or electronics thermal engineering
- Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics
- Familiarity with thermal analysis and CFD tools, including ANSYS Icepak, FloEFD, or STAR-CCM+
- Experience with CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks
- Experience applying first-principles reasoning to engineering problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain an S//SAR level security clearance desired
Responsibilities
- Own thermal analysis and design for unmanned aerial vehicle avionics and custom power electronics
- Develop and validate heat-transfer and fluid-flow models using hand calculations and CFD tools
- Provide input to trade studies, system architecture decisions, and risk assessments
- Assist cross-functional teams with power-electronic circuit and enclosure designs
- Contribute thermal requirements affecting component, board, and material selection
- Drive test planning, instrumentation, and data analysis
- Communicate technical findings through briefings, design reviews, and reports
- Identify risks, propose solutions, and influence electrical and PCBA design direction
