About the Role

You will contribute to photonic architecture for transceiver products. You will analyze how photonic effects interact with SerDes, drivers, and TIAs; simulate end-to-end optical links; develop solutions to maintain error rates at increasing throughput and density; and validate simulations through remote hardware testing.

Requirements

  • Pursue a PhD in Photonics, Optics, or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in optical communications
  • Have experience with optical link simulations using tools such as VPIphotonics, Matlab, Virtuoso, or ADS
  • Have coursework in electromagnetics, semiconductor devices and physics, optics, scientific computing, numerical methods, signals and systems, statistics, thermal physics, and analog electronics
  • Have Python programming experience
  • Understand data collection and analysis
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have capacity to comply with U.S. export control requirements

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Passage transceiver product architecture with a focus on photonic architecture
  • Analyze interactions between photonic effects and the performance of SerDes, drivers, and TIAs
  • Develop solutions to maintain error rates in optical communications products
  • Simulate end-to-end optical links, including fiber polarization, optical reflections, and thermal dynamics
  • Collaborate with the test team to perform remote testing on hardware
  • Define test plans and correlate test results with simulations

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health care plan
  • Retirement savings matching program
  • Life insurance
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and public holidays
  • Paid family leave
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Commuter benefits
  • Flexible hybrid workplace model
