You will establish design rules and documentation, resolve manufacturing risks, collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners, support prototype and NPI builds, improve yield and testability, and apply AI tools to engineering reporting and workflow automation.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, or materials engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in PCBA DFM, manufacturing engineering, or hardware NPI
  • Knowledge of SMT assembly processes
  • Experience reviewing PCB layouts, component footprints, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and release packages
  • Knowledge of high-density assembly, fine-pitch component, and large BGA manufacturability challenges
  • Ability to distinguish design-change needs from manufacturing-process needs
  • Documentation, revision management, review tracking, and technical reporting skills
  • Experience using AI tools for technical reporting, analysis, automation, or application development
  • Experience resolving technical issues with design engineers and contract manufacturers
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and PCB design and fabrication standards

Responsibilities

  • Lead PCBA design-for-manufacturing reviews from early design through production release
  • Translate review findings into design changes and verify their implementation
  • Develop and maintain DFM rules, checklists, and review milestones
  • Maintain version-controlled review records, issue trackers, design decisions, and manufacturing requirements
  • Identify assembly challenges and prepare products for repeatable volume production
  • Evaluate supplier DFM feedback and align manufacturing requirements with contract manufacturers
  • Investigate prototype and NPI assembly issues and incorporate findings into future board revisions
  • Use build results, inspection data, and failure analysis to improve yield and reduce manufacturing costs
  • Improve testability and inspection coverage with Test Engineering
  • Use AI tools for technical reporting, analysis, automation, and lightweight applications

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage
  • $500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits
