About the Role

You own the full bookkeeping and financial accounting cycle for a German entity. You maintain accurate books under HGB and GoBD, manage month-end close and intercompany accounting, support the DATEV-to-NetSuite migration, prepare tax filings and annual financial statements, and provide documentation to advisors and auditors.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Experience independently running the full accounting function
  • Experience preparing and filing German VAT and corporate income tax returns
  • Experience preparing annual financial statements
  • Knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and GoBD principles
  • Practical DATEV experience
  • NetSuite experience or willingness to learn during migration
  • Understanding of German VAT and invoice compliance requirements
  • Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations
  • Experience handling bank transactions and accounts payable
  • Attention to detail and comfort with structured deadlines
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle bookkeeping for the German entity
  • Process bank transactions, accounts payable invoices, and journal entries
  • Prepare monthly trial balances, journal entries, and supporting schedules
  • Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with HGB and GoBD requirements
  • Support accounting migration from DATEV to NetSuite
  • Prepare and file VAT and corporate income tax returns
  • Prepare annual financial statements
  • Prepare documentation for tax advisors and auditors
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, accruals, and provisions
  • Support payroll-related accounting entries
  • Respond to audit, reporting, and consultant requests
  • Maintain invoice documentation under §14 UStG
