About the Role
You will lead the development and operation of a distributed object-storage system. You will set technical direction for storage primitives, manage engineers, and work across disk caching, blob storage, replication, garbage collection, observability, automation, capacity planning, and on-call operations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience writing high-quality production code
- 3+ years of direct people management experience
- Experience building high-performance distributed storage or caching systems at scale
- Cloud skills and familiarity with object storage and CDNs
- Knowledge of Linux kernel, file systems, page cache, and containers
- Experience with replication, content addressing, and consistency models
- Experience operating storage systems at scale
- Experience with cost and capacity planning
- Experience setting technical direction and driving architectural decisions
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of distributed object storage
- Set technical direction for storage primitives
- Manage 3–8 engineers
- Balance storage durability, latency, throughput, and cost
- Own storage architecture and roadmap decisions
- Guide observability, automation, and on-call practices
- Manage garbage collection, replication, rate limiting, and capacity planning
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents
