About the Role

You'll join Carta's Fund Tax team as a US Federal tax reviewer, using Carta's proprietary tax engine to file tax returns for venture capital clients. You'll work with some of the most talented venture capitalists, fund managers and dealmakers in the world, helping them realize their ambitions through Carta's next-gen investment stack, including legals, vehicle formation, banking, and investor onboarding. You'll also collaborate with Carta's wider accounting, fund administration and compliance teams on relevant tax issues. You'll help productize professional services workflows, contribute to building a tax engine that simplifies tax filings, and support automation of post-deal processes for investment structures in venture capital.

Requirements

  • US Federal tax experience for the preparation and filing of tax returns and IRS e-filings, focusing on partnership tax returns
  • Fully qualified CPA
  • Understanding of US tax filings relating to investment vehicles
  • Experience with Schedule K-2 and K-3 and other international forms is a plus
  • High attention to detail, written and quantitative
  • Ability to navigate complex tax structures and documentation
  • Organized and calm under pressure
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Effective communication and multitasking abilities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file US Federal partnership tax returns and IRS e-filings
  • Review complex tax structures and documentation for venture capital investment vehicles
  • Collaborate with accounting, fund administration and compliance teams on tax issues
  • Work on productizing tax workflows to improve filing speed and accuracy
  • Support automation of post-deal processes for investment structures
  • Interact with clients on administering their investment structures
  • Contribute to wider team projects that are not directly tax-related
