About the Role
You'll join Carta's Fund Tax team as a US Federal tax reviewer, using Carta's proprietary tax engine to file tax returns for venture capital clients. You'll help talented venture capitalists, fund managers, and dealmakers realize their ambitions by supporting the next-gen investment stack, including legals, vehicle formation, banking, and investor onboarding. You'll also collaborate with the wider Carta accounting, fund administration, and compliance teams on relevant tax issues tied to Carta's products and services. You'll work on productizing tax workflows to deliver fast, accurate tax solutions, help build a tax engine that simplifies tax filings, and support the automation of investment structures to scale post-deal processes.
Requirements
- US Federal tax experience for the preparation and filing of tax returns and IRS e-filings, focusing on partnership tax returns
- Fully qualified CPA
- Understanding of US tax filings relating to investment vehicles
- Experience with Schedule K-2 and K-3 forms and other international forms is a plus
- High attention to detail, written and quantitative
- Ability to navigate complex tax structures and documentation
- Organized and calm under pressure
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to multitask to meet multiple deadlines
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file US Federal tax returns and IRS e-filings for partnership tax returns
- Leverage Carta's proprietary tax engine to file tax returns for venture capital clients
- Collaborate with Carta's accounting, fund administration, and compliance teams on relevant tax issues
- Help scale post-deal processes for automated investment structures
- Complete Schedule K-2, K-3, and other international forms typically filed with partnership tax returns
- Interact with clients on administering their investment structures
- Work on wider team projects that are not directly tax-related
