About the Role
You will lead the design, development, and operation of an identity platform supporting the full KYC lifecycle. You will build scalable backend systems, automate compliance decisioning with AI, mentor engineers, manage incidents, and turn customer and regulatory escalations into platform improvements. You will partner with Risk, Compliance, Product, Operations, and Legal to shape the platform roadmap.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of engineering experience.
- 3+ years of experience managing senior and staff engineers.
- Backend engineering expertise in building and scaling backend systems.
- Experience with API services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with batch and event-driven ETL pipelines using Python and Airflow.
- Experience with operational excellence, incident management, on-call practices, and blameless post-mortems.
- Experience using AI and machine learning to improve automation and team velocity.
- Experience engaging enterprise customers and compliance officers.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end identity verification lifecycle, including CIP, CDD, and continuous customer risk monitoring.
- Build and operate systems that enforce KYC obligations, identity verification, risk-based due diligence, and event-driven re-verification.
- Drive AI-first automation across KYC and KYB decisioning, sanctions screening, and Red Flag rule evaluation.
- Lead and mentor an engineering team to improve delivery velocity and system reliability.
- Lead technical and business-facing customer and regulatory escalations.
- Translate complex compliance scenarios into scalable platform improvements.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Product, Operations, and Legal to shape the platform roadmap and identity verification strategy.
