Manager, Fund Accounting – Hedge Fund and Alternative Investments

About the Role

You will lead client engagements across functional teams and manage a portfolio of client relationships. You will create and monitor work plans, coach and develop fund accounting staff, prepare and review monthly and quarterly account closings, and ensure investor fees and allocations are accurate and compliant. You will draft and review annual financial statements, manage the audit process, review key fund legal documents, service complex engagements, and identify and implement process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting or related fund administration work
  • Minimum 3 years managing a staff of accountants
  • Advanced industry knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Preferred experience with fund administration and auditing hedge funds and alternative investment funds

  • Coach, train, and lead fund accounting team members
  • Service the most complex engagements
  • Assist with career development of team members
  • Partner with other managers to ensure proper deployment of fund services
  • Serve as a resource on client matters
  • Manage timing and quality of client deliverables
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly account closing packages
  • Ensure investor fees are calculated and allocated correctly
  • Prepare and review investor allocations and ensure fund document compliance
  • Prepare and review draft annual financial statements and manage audits
  • Review key legal fund offering documents
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend or implement changes
