About the Role

You will lead an infrastructure engineering team and build backend services, distributed systems, and cloud platform capabilities. You will improve reliability and scalability, partner with product teams, conduct reviews, document systems, develop testing strategies, and participate in on-call incident response.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of infrastructure team leadership experience
• Experience acquiring and retaining talent
• 5+ years building large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems and API microservices
• Experience improving system efficiency, scalability, and stability
• Experience building and operating high-performance or globally distributed microservice architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Systems knowledge of compute, networking, storage, concurrency, memory management, performant I/O, and scale
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Expert-level programming ability in a programming language, preferably Golang
• Version control practices and IaC integration with CI/CD pipelines
• Kubernetes and container experience preferred
• Data infrastructure experience with Kinesis, Airflow, or Kafka is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of eight Together Cloud Infrastructure Engineers in Amsterdam
• Identify, design, and develop foundational backend services for the commerce platform
• Analyze and improve the robustness and scalability of distributed systems, APIs, databases, and infrastructure
• Partner with product teams to deliver solutions that meet functional requirements
• Write well-tested, maintainable software and infrastructure as code
• Conduct design and code reviews and create developer documentation
• Develop testing strategies for robustness and fault tolerance
• Participate in an on-call rotation to address critical incidents
