About the Role
You will design and implement payment flows, recurring billing, and provider integrations from initial design through production. You will set technical direction, review code, resolve production issues, improve observability and failure handling, coach engineers, and partner with Payments, Product, Finance, and Operations to improve payment success and reduce losses.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and scaling production payments infrastructure from architecture through implementation and operations.
- Deep experience with payment processing, recurring billing, provider integrations, and reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, financial correctness, idempotency, consistency, and failure recovery.
- Experience leading engineers through architectural decisions, migrations, and production incidents.
- Technical leadership and judgment to simplify complex systems and improve engineering decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement payment flows, recurring billing, and provider integrations.
- Guide architectural decisions and review code.
- Investigate production issues and improve observability, failure handling, retries, and scalability.
- Turn complex problems into clear delivery plans and coach engineers.
- Ship and operate high-quality payment systems.
- Work with Payments, Product, Finance, and Operations to improve payment success, reduce losses, and support global growth.
