About the Role
You will own the transition from a validated prototype to a shippable instrument. You will define architecture and performance requirements, direct mechanical design, coordinate hardware and software integration, manage manufacturing and certification, and define installation, training, and service for external deployments.
Requirements
- Experience taking an instrument from prototype to external deployment
- Working fluency with optical instrumentation
- Experience with bills of materials, assembly documentation, and design for manufacturability
- Experience co-developing instrument-control interfaces and scientific user workflows
- CAD proficiency
- Ability to communicate with biologists and understand life-science instrument needs
Responsibilities
- Own instrument system architecture, performance requirements, and shipment criteria
- Set engineering directions and evaluate design trade-offs
- Improve performance against product requirements
- Define hardware-software interfaces with a software engineer
- Own the bill of materials and assembly protocol
- Drive laser-safety certification, vendor relationships, and fabrication partnerships
- Define external installation, training, and service processes
- Project-manage productization activities
