About the Role

You will provide hands-on desktop technical support across physical and virtual environments. You will troubleshoot Linux workstations, applications, peripherals, network and audio-visual issues; maintain network and data center connectivity; perform hardware monitoring and performance tuning; assist with automated setups and develop automation in Python; and support production and end-user computing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years prior desktop support or related experience
  • Solid knowledge of PC hardware and computer internals
  • Ability to analyse, troubleshoot and resolve hardware failures
  • Working knowledge of Linux command-line
  • Troubleshoot workstation OS (Linux), applications, peripherals, network and audio-visual issues
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Experience with hardware monitoring and performance tuning
  • Basic knowledge of data center connectivity
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Ability to lift 40–50 pounds
  • Ability to work weekend and evening shifts when required
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Educational background in computer science or IT (preferred)
  • Nice to have: familiarity with Linux servers
  • Nice to have: networking, DNS, DHCP, VLAN
  • Nice to have: Python

Responsibilities

  • Provide desktop technical support for automated setups
  • Troubleshoot workstation OS, applications, peripherals, and audio-visual issues
  • Maintain networks and computing environments
  • Perform hardware monitoring and performance tuning
  • Support production, back office computing and end-user functions
  • Visit data centers and perform desk-side support as required
  • Communicate professionally with users during walk-ups, inquiries and status calls
  • Work weekend and evening shifts when required
  • Lift and move equipment up to 40–50 pounds
