About the Role
The Head of Credit Risk leads the global Credit Risk function within Adyen’s Operations organization, overseeing counterparty risk across acquiring and financial products, including merchant monitoring, high-risk decisions, collections, and operational input into risk models and policies.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in credit risk leadership within fintech, high-volume payments, or banking.
- Deep practical understanding of credit risk management for financial products.
- Experience with capital lending, commercial loans, or charge cards preferred.
- Strong understanding of the merchant lifecycle, bankruptcy risk, lending, and underwriting.
- Experience managing global or multi-region teams preferred.
- Ability to translate complex credit risks into actionable proposals for executive committees.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale a high-performing global Credit Risk team across Amsterdam, Singapore, and Chicago.
- Oversee daily monitoring and manual review of high-exposure merchants.
- Serve as the final operational escalation point for edge-case approvals.
- Prepare high-risk merchant decisions for the Merchant Risk Committee.
- Influence Credit Models, Risk Policies, and Risk Appetite using operational data.
- Direct the global Collections function.
- Partner with Product on risk tools and with Second Line Risk on operational governance.
