About the Role
You own and define the unified Software Development Lifecycle end to end and enforce it across the engineering function. You set and uphold engineering standards and practices across all tribes. You provide people leadership for Engineering Managers including performance growth and hiring. You oversee backend change management with regulator ready audit trails and risk tiered approvals. You own the tech debt roadmap and capacity planning. You lead engineering incident response and post mortems and drive action items to closure. You drive AI first engineering across the function to improve productivity and quality.
Requirements
- 8+ years in software engineering with at least 3-4 years in an engineering leadership role spanning multiple teams
- Proven track record delivering function level delivery predictability
- Hands-on experience defining SDLC including code review standards change management and retros
- Strong people leadership of Engineering Managers including performance management growth and hiring
- Experience with AI assisted development across the SDLC and evaluating its real value
- Solid understanding of backend distributed systems in regulated environments with audit readiness
- Data driven with experience owning engineering metrics and turning them into prioritized actions
- Strong communication across technical and non technical audiences
- Experience in regulated fintech banking or payments environments
Responsibilities
- Delivery predictability across the engineering function ensuring committed scope is shipped on committed dates
- Set and enforce engineering standards and practices across the function including code review standards retrospectives and feedback loops
- Lead the people management of Engineering Managers including performance management growth and 1:1 cadence and hiring
- Own the unified SDLC end to end and oversee day to day execution by Engineering Managers in their tribes
- Govern backend change management with regulator ready audit trails and risk tiered approvals
- Own the tech debt roadmap and capacity planning
- Oversee engineering incident response and post mortems and ensure timely closure of action items
- Drive AI first engineering standards across the function including AI tooling adoption
- Blocker clearance by fast escalation and resolution of blockers in sprint and backlog
- Cross department standard execution aligning with quality security and architecture
- Own the engineering OKRs and ensure alignment with the function's goals
- Cross functional initiative delivery to ensure engineering does not block initiatives across product technology and operations
