About the Role

You will lead a new engineering squad working US hours on a crypto payment platform. You will own delivery, team health, quality, technical debt, risk management, security and compliance practices, AI-assisted development standards, stakeholder management, and hiring and onboarding engineers. You will also serve as backup for the Director of Engineering during incidents and regulatory reporting.

Requirements

  • 4-5+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • Hands-on backend engineering experience with TypeScript or a similar modern stack
  • Strong system design knowledge
  • Understanding of crypto and stablecoin domains
  • Experience using AI tools in management workflows and building AI-assisted development practices
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and evaluating engineers
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of performance, reliability, security, observability, and scalability requirements
  • Ability to work in distributed async-first teams across time zones
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery commitments and maintain a stable delivery rhythm
  • Hire and onboard engineers
  • Set expectations and provide development paths and regular feedback
  • Monitor workload and prevent burnout
  • Establish incident response and postmortem practices
  • Manage technical debt with Product
  • Identify and escalate team risks
  • Establish AI-assisted development standards and quality gates
  • Maintain remote and asynchronous team practices
  • Ensure security and compliance hygiene
  • Act as backup for the Director of Engineering in incident management and regulatory reporting
  • Manage stakeholders across Product, QA, Infrastructure, and Support
