About the Role
You will join a rapidly growing Fund Administration team, partnering with top venture capital and private equity firms to streamline their financial accounting needs. You'll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, go-to-market and operations teams while deepening your accounting expertise in a fast-paced environment. You will also mentor junior team members and help position Carta as the leading Fund Administration group.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in the Venture Capital or Private Equity industry
- Experience maintaining, managing and nurturing multiple client relationships
- Experience interpreting and understanding Limited Partnership Agreements and Private Placement Memorandum
- Experience reviewing financial statements and footnotes for consistency with reporting frameworks
- Experience with Waterfall calculations, management fees and carried interest allocations
- Experience working on complex entity structures and report consolidations
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and multitask to meet multiple deadlines
- Experience managing and monitoring timely delivery of quality client deliverables
- Understanding of Venture Capital and Private Equity Fund Administration and local fund structures like Unit Trust, Investment Company, Limited Partnerships (VCLP, ESVCLP), stapled structures
- Experience implementing accounting data into a general ledger system
- Experience supporting customers through a software platform and presenting demos to prospective clients
- Experience leveraging technologies to automate processes and gain efficiencies
- Experience providing training and guidance to new and existing team members
- Risk management experience, identifying risk and putting controls in place
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Private credit experience preferred
- CPA or CMA preferred
Responsibilities
- Understand and prioritize client needs while scaling CFO services
- Support capital calls and distributions
- Provide audit and tax support
- Support pre-close and post-close services
- Prepare quarterly and annual financials
- Manage limited partner communications
- Help clients utilize tools such as real-time IRR and portfolio data
- Provide additional data points such as TVPI and RVPI
- Work with product and engineering teams to develop the Venture Capital product suite
- Consult with clients and implement Fund Administration software
- Interact with clients on a daily basis and manage client relationships
- Interact with external auditors and tax providers
- Review client deliverables including financial packages, capital calls and distributions
- Assist the Senior Director to execute new and current processes within the team
- Ensure the accounting team is SOC compliant in all processes and procedures
- Mentor junior team members
