About the Role
You will act as the technical co-founder for a deployable healthcare platform used in remote, field, transit, and contested environments. You will integrate hardware and software, design resilient systems, build prototypes, ensure regulatory alignment, define the technology stack, and recruit the initial engineering team.
Requirements
- Track record of shipping real products
- Experience spanning physical devices and software is preferred
- Depth in embedded systems firmware sensors signal acquisition edge computing or connected-device architecture
- Experience in a regulated high-trust domain such as health-tech medical devices or defence
- Knowledge of clinical safety data protection medical-device or quality-management frameworks
- Pragmatic build-versus-buy decision-making
- Founder-level ownership and equity mindset
- Ability to communicate with clinical users and investors
- Ability to recruit and lead an engineering team
- AI or machine-learning experience for on-device inference or sensor fusion is a plus
- Experience as a founding engineer or early startup employee is a plus
- Experience in clinical pre-hospital emergency humanitarian or field operations is a plus
- Hardware manufacturing and certification experience is a plus
- Willingness and ability to undergo UK government security vetting
Responsibilities
- Integrate sensing edge computing and data-synchronisation layers
- Design resilient systems for intermittent connectivity and power constraints
- Ensure compliance with medical-device regulations data-protection standards and quality frameworks
- Deliver functional prototypes for clinical pilots and investor demonstrations
- Define the initial technology stack
- Build recruit and manage the core engineering team
- Work with the founder and CEO on product direction
- Support pilot deployments and technical documentation for funding rounds
