About the Role

You will own the engineering direction for treasury infrastructure spanning currencies, payment rails, FX, wallets, accounts, custody, and the global ledger. You will design and operate scalable financial systems, lead wallet and custody integrations, make hands-on architectural decisions, and translate treasury strategy into reliable production services. You will hire and develop engineers, define the operating model and technical roadmap, communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders, and coordinate delivery across business functions. You will build observability and audit readiness into every layer, lead incident response, improve reliability using measurable outcomes, and maintain high standards for quality and peer review. You will also use AI tools for design exploration, code review, debugging, specifications, and technical synthesis while identifying opportunities for AI-assisted system capabilities.

Requirements

  • Have at least eight years of software engineering experience involving treasuries, ledgers, or FX
  • Have at least one to two years of technical leadership or management experience
  • Demonstrate ownership and operation of business-critical systems
  • Understand custodial and non-custodial crypto wallet architecture, key management, address lifecycles, and signing flows
  • Have production experience integrating wallet or custody providers
  • Demonstrate broad functional knowledge of virtual assets, fiat currencies, blockchains, payment networks, ledgers, and counterparties
  • Have experience building API-driven global financial systems and writing precise API-level requirements
  • Apply rigorous problem-solving to correctness, edge cases, debugging, and failure modes
  • Have deep backend engineering experience and an interest in financial infrastructure
  • Exercise sound technical judgment while balancing product needs and tradeoffs
  • Write clear, well-structured design documents, memos, and specifications
  • Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and peer review
  • Manage multiple workstreams and competing deadlines in a high-velocity, ambiguous environment

Responsibilities

  • Own engineering across assets, currencies, payment rails, networks, FX, wallet and account infrastructure, and the global ledger
  • Build the technical foundation for launching new hubs and markets
  • Lead the design, development, and operation of core treasury systems
  • Make and defend hands-on architectural and technical decisions
  • Lead wallet and custody integrations from provider evaluation and key management design through production operation and reconciliation
  • Develop domain knowledge of clients, products, and hubs to inform technical decisions
  • Contribute to engineering leadership and foundational systems strategy
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, design, finance, customer success, and business operations
  • Communicate technical decisions, rationales, and tradeoffs to leadership and stakeholders
  • Hire, grow, and shape the Treasury engineering team
  • Define the team's operating model and long-term roadmap
  • Support engineers' growth and performance
  • Build scalable systems that can be orchestrated across global hubs
  • Embed observability throughout the systems
  • Lead incident response and continuous reliability improvements
  • Define and measure success metrics for continuous improvement
  • Maintain high standards for system quality and scalability
  • Track fintech, infrastructure, and compliance trends and evolve systems accordingly
  • Use AI tools for design exploration, code review, debugging, specification writing, and technical synthesis
  • Embed AI-native practices across engineering workflows
  • Identify opportunities to build AI-assisted system capabilities
