About the Role
You will lead people and delivery for populAI, translating product goals into reliable execution. You will set expectations, develop engineers, remove blockers, manage hiring, and partner with product and technical leaders on priorities, scope, technical direction, and customer context. You will remain hands-on when needed to improve delivery and understand the codebase.
Requirements
- Experience leading and line-managing a software engineering team
- Experience partnering with Product to shape priorities and challenge scope
- Experience handling underperformance, conflict, ambiguity, and difficult stakeholder conversations
- Experience with behavioural or agent-based simulation of people, crowds, or vehicles
- Experience with systems languages, ideally C++, for performance-sensitive real-time applications
- Ability to obtain and maintain UK Security Vetted status at least to SC level
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery for populAI
- Turn product goals into executable plans and reliable stakeholder commitments
- Line-manage a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Set expectations, give feedback, and support performance and development
- Remove blockers and develop technical leaders
- Stay hands-on with delivery work when needed
- Own hiring plans and processes for the team
- Partner with the Product Manager on priorities, scope, timelines, and technical investment
- Work with technical leadership and specialists on technical direction and architecture decisions
- Incorporate customer and business context to align work and support team autonomy
