About the Role
You will lead and develop mechanical engineers working on aircraft mechanisms and actuation systems. You will set engineering standards, coordinate cross-functional work, manage workloads and risks, mentor engineers, and support design, build, integration, testing, and release activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience with aerospace mechanisms and actuated-system design, build, integration, test, and flight
- 2+ years of team leadership experience
- Ability to lead autonomous teams and scale output through people
- Knowledge of kinematics, statics, dynamics, fatigue, wear, tolerancing, GD&T, materials, finishes, lubrication, bearings, and failure modes
- Experience taking hardware through prototype build, test, iteration, and release
- Experience with suppliers and manufacturing engagement
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop mechanical engineers working on aircraft mechanisms and actuation systems
- Support end-to-end mechanism design
- Set quality standards for sizing, tolerances, margins, drawings, materials, and verification
- Ensure engineers have clear goals, resources, interfaces, and decision rights
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test functions
- Coach engineers through mentorship, feedback, hiring, onboarding, and performance management
- Manage workloads across builds and test campaigns
- Communicate risks, staffing needs, and schedule impacts
