About the Role

You will lead the Office of Enterprise Assessments and direct independent oversight, evaluation, and enforcement programs across the Department of Energy complex. You will assess safety, security, emergency management, and worker health programs; advise senior leadership on systemic risks; manage enforcement activities; exercise delegated authorities; and represent the Department in high-level external engagements.

Requirements

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Meet the Executive Core Qualifications and Technical Qualifications in a two-page resume.
  • Demonstrate executive leadership experience directing complex nuclear and industrial safety, cyber and physical security, and emergency management programs.
  • Demonstrate executive leadership experience in enforcement, assessment, national security training advisement, and qualitative and quantitative performance evaluation.
  • Obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance and eligibility for SCI and Top Secret access.
  • Complete a one-year SES probationary period unless already completed.
  • Complete required financial disclosure reporting.
  • Pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Register with or be exempt from Selective Service if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Office of Enterprise Assessments, including strategic plans, program priorities, organizational structures, and resource allocations.
  • Direct independent evaluations of DOE policies and line-management performance in safety, security, emergency management, and worker health and safety.
  • Manage Congressionally mandated enforcement programs and investigative functions.
  • Advise senior leadership on systemic risks and recommend policy, corrective, and operational improvements.
  • Exercise delegated departmental authorities, including appointing Type A Accident Investigation Boards and adjudicating waiver and variance requests.
  • Represent the Department in engagements with Congress, federal agencies, contractor leadership, and external stakeholders.
