About the Role
You will provide strategic and operational leadership for environmental, health, safety, and explosive-safety programs. You will direct compliance, hazardous-materials handling, emergency preparedness, permits, safety metrics, regulatory engagement, and a multi-site EH&S organization supporting manufacturing operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline
- 15+ years of progressive EH&S experience
- At least 5 years in a Director-level or higher leadership role at a defense, aerospace, or energetics manufacturing organization
- Expertise in DoD explosive safety programs and DoD 4145.26
- Experience managing explosive safety for ordnance, rocket motors, propellants, initiators, or energetic-material manufacturing
- Knowledge of hypergolic propellant safety and environmental compliance
- Experience managing environmental compliance under RCRA, CERCLA, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act
- Experience working with GSRs, OSHA, EPA, ATF, and state regulatory agencies
- Experience building and leading multi-site EH&S organizations
- Certified Safety Professional certification or equivalent
- Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations
Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise environmental, health, safety, and explosive-safety functions across manufacturing sites
- Own and mature the Explosive Safety Program and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations
- Lead hazardous-material handling, storage, and emergency-response programs
- Direct environmental compliance programs for regulated chemicals
- Embed EH&S requirements into production processes
- Lead facility safety, fire protection, and suppression programs
- Serve as the primary interface with government safety representatives and regulatory agencies
- Build, lead, and develop a multi-site EH&S team
- Establish EH&S metrics, KPIs, reporting cadences, and executive reporting
- Oversee environmental, hazardous-waste, and explosive permit management
- Direct emergency preparedness, response planning, tabletop exercises, and drills
- Ensure compliance with export-control and DoD security requirements affecting EH&S operations
