About the Role
You'll partner with the Head of Finance to build out the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while implementing strong financial operating procedures. You'll roll up your sleeves and work both independently and as a manager, thriving in a high-growth environment while solving complex blockchain-related accounting problems. You'll bring a strong grasp of US GAAP, work with accounting systems and integrations, and focus on automation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Accounting department builder at heart
- 10+ years experience with time spent at a Big 4 accounting firm
- 2+ years of recent experience at a crypto company or crypto native
- Experience or familiarity with digital asset accounting is highly preferred
- Prior experience leading a financial audit in partnership with external auditors
- CPA license holder
- Experience with multi-entity operations
- Strong proficiency in accounting software, financial planning tools and Microsoft Excel
- Great communicator with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized and tactical
- Ability to think strategically about department building and rolling out new processes
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close process and prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow
- Drive opportunities for process improvements and automation, optimize accounting systems and tools, and lead the implementation of accounting best practices
- Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in compliance with US GAAP, staying up to date with FASB and SEC guidance, especially related to digital asset policies
- Develop, implement and enforce financial controls and policies
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable
- Own digital asset reporting and reconciliations
- Provide support to the management team in making informed financial decisions
- Work with tax partners to prepare and file tax documents and returns
- Build and mentor the Accounting team
