About the Role

You will own the integrity of Paxos' financial records and build accounting infrastructure to support a fast-scaling, regulated financial services business. You will drive the monthly, quarterly and annual close, prepare financial statements under US GAAP, lead external audits, set and defend accounting policy, and design and maintain internal controls. You will partner with Product and Engineering on product and fund flow design to ensure proper accounting treatment and data flows, shape quote-to-cash and revenue recognition with commercial and legal teams, and hire, develop and automate accounting processes to scale reporting and reconciliations.

Requirements

• CPA required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including multi-entity environments
• Deep US GAAP technical accounting knowledge
• Proven ability to partner with Product and Engineering on financial system design and fund flow architecture
• Experience with quote-to-cash and revenue recognition processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and iterating as facts change
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to automate reconciliations financial close tasks and reporting workflows
• Experience in fintech crypto-native or regulated financial services environment is a plus

Responsibilities

• Drive the monthly quarterly and annual close for all entities
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Lead technical accounting research and document accounting positions
• Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and manage financial audits
• Design implement and maintain internal controls for a regulated trust company
• Partner with Product and Engineering on product design to ensure accounting treatment and data flows
• Design scalable quote-to-cash processes and advise on revenue recognition
• Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals
• Drive automation and process improvement for close reconciliation and reporting
