About the Role
You will build trusted relationships with municipal, provincial, and community stakeholders and lead engagement from site selection through construction and operations. You will represent the organization in public forums, translate operational plans into local benefits, coordinate community investments, and create scalable engagement processes.
Requirements
- Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, municipal or provincial government, or a related field
- Experience engaging municipal and provincial governments on large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects
- Relationship-building and coalition-building skills
- Ability to represent a company in public settings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements independently
- Based in Alberta, Canada or willing to relocate
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with municipal governments, provincial ministers and agencies, community groups, civic leaders, educational institutions, and workforce partners
- Develop and execute community engagement strategies across site selection, development, construction, and operations
- Build coalitions, host education and listening sessions, and design local community solutions
- Represent the organization at public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and in local media
- Monitor community sentiment and political dynamics and advise internal teams
- Bring community input into project planning, communication, and delivery
- Develop locally relevant messaging with communications partners
- Coordinate charitable giving, community investment, economic development commitments, and nonprofit relationships
- Explain environmental stewardship and respond to questions about power, water, and land use
- Build a scalable community engagement playbook and repeatable processes
