About the Role
You'll build and scale a safe, high-quality, and compliant clinical operation in one of the company's most important growth markets. You'll lead the development of a scalable prescriber workforce, establish strong clinical governance frameworks aligned with Japanese regulations, and act as the primary clinical representative for the Japan market. You'll work closely with global and local teams - including product, pharmacy partners, and patient support - to ensure high-quality, culturally appropriate care delivery. This role requires a balance of hands-on execution and strategic leadership in a fast-paced, high-growth digital health environment.
Requirements
- Licensed healthcare professional in Japan (e.g., physician, pharmacist, or allied health professional)
- Strong understanding of the Japanese healthcare system, regulations, and prescribing practices
- Experience in clinical operations, digital health, or healthcare strategy
- Proven ability to build and scale teams or processes in a fast-paced environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across local and global teams
- Fluent in Japanese (native level) and comfortable working in English
Responsibilities
- Lead clinical input for new product launches and market expansion in Japan
- Adapt global clinical models to align with local regulations, prescribing practices, and patient expectations
- Shape and continuously improve Japan-specific models of care
- Build and scale a reliable, high-quality prescriber network in Japan
- Partner with hiring teams to design and execute screening, assessment, and onboarding processes
- Establish systems for rostering, utilisation, and performance management
- Support clinicians with clear guidance, ensuring consistent and safe prescribing practices
- Monitor clinical performance through audits, data analysis, and prescriber insights
- Lead clinical incident and complaint management, including triage, escalation, and resolution
- Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
- Develop scalable clinical guardrails and safety protocols
- Act as the clinical subject matter expert for Japan across all functions
- Review and localise clinical content, patient communications, and educational materials
- Collaborate closely with pharmacy partners, operations, and patient support teams
- Ensure effective coordination for clinical risk management and escalation pathways
- Establish and maintain clinical governance frameworks aligned with Japanese healthcare regulations
- Develop clear clinical protocols such as prescribing criteria, eligibility thresholds, and escalation processes
- Support regulatory readiness, audits, and compliance requirements
- Work closely with external stakeholders to ensure adherence to local standards of care
- Act as the primary escalation point for Japanese prescribers and clinicians
- Foster strong collaboration between remote practitioners and internal teams
- Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and ongoing support to practitioners
- Build relationships with regulatory bodies, clinical associations, and healthcare stakeholders in Japan
- Represent the company in industry events, conferences, and external forums
- Support efforts to build trust and credibility in the Japanese healthcare ecosystem
