Tools for Humanity is a technology company founded in 2019 and headquartered in San Francisco and Munich. It builds and operates services including World ID App and World App, which provide interfaces for creating and using World ID, accessing Mini Apps, and managing digital assets through a self-custodial wallet. It also develops the Orb and Orb Mini proof-of-human hardware and software, using encrypted iris-imaging processes and open-source components, and leads design and planning for World Spaces.

About the Role
You will manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger. You will reconcile bank and card accounts monthly, process payroll and payroll tax filings, prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, maintain complete transaction records, support audits and tax consultants, analyze financial data to identify trends, assist budgeting and forecasting, and ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- Experience at a Big Four accounting firm
- 3+ years of accounting experience preferably in a technology startup
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with accounting software such as SAP S/4HANA and QuickBooks
- Experience with audits and working with external auditors
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- CPA or Wirtschaftsprüfer (WP) preferred
- Native or fluent proficiency in German and English
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Maintain and post entries to the general ledger
- Reconcile bank accounts credit cards and other accounts monthly
- Process payroll and prepare payroll tax returns
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Maintain accurate up-to-date records of financial transactions
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants
- Monitor and analyze financial data and identify trends
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws
