About the Role
You will own wire-harness and cable-assembly design from requirements through routing, release, validation, and production support. You will produce CAD routes, drawings, BOMs, wire lists, and manufacturing documentation; resolve system interfaces; support builds; validate designs; and improve production readiness with suppliers.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline
- At least 3 years of wire-harness or cable-assembly design experience for complex electromechanical products
- Experience with 3D CAD cable routing and production-release documentation
- Ability to read electrical schematics and interconnect diagrams
- Knowledge of routing, connector selection, strain relief, bend radius, shielding, grounding, clearances, and serviceability
- Experience supporting prototype or first-article builds and troubleshooting integration issues
- Oral and written communication skills
- US work authorization
Responsibilities
- Own wire-harness and cable-assembly designs from requirements through production support
- Translate schematics and interconnect requirements into 3D routes, drawings, BOMs, wire lists, and manufacturing documentation
- Define routing, cable selection, connectors, terminals, protective coverings, and assembly access
- Resolve interfaces and tradeoffs across reliability, packaging, serviceability, cost, and schedule
- Support prototype and first-article builds and troubleshoot integration issues
- Develop validation for electrical and mechanical performance
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to improve production readiness
- Develop harness design standards, component libraries, and best practices
- Create and maintain 2D and 3D electrical component libraries
