About the Role
You will diagnose vehicle issues during testing and road operations, implement safe temporary fixes, and document diagnostic findings. You will analyze recurring failures with software, hardware, and operations partners, improve reliability processes, support vehicle testing, and streamline diagnostic routines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, robotics, aerospace, or a related industry troubleshooting complex vehicle systems
- Linux-based systems and command-line diagnostics proficiency
- Computer networking fundamentals knowledge
- CAN bus diagnostics experience
- Automotive diagnostic tools experience
- Data analysis capabilities
- Spreadsheet or scripting language familiarity
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Root cause analysis methodologies knowledge
- Functional safety or reliability standards experience is beneficial
- Automotive safety standards knowledge, including ISO 26262 and UL 4600
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
Responsibilities
- Identify and diagnose issues during vehicle testing and on-road operations
- Use hardware and software knowledge to address vehicle failures and anomalies
- Implement documented temporary fixes and workarounds
- Ensure workarounds maintain safety and performance standards
- Log, track, and document vehicle issues in diagnostic and issue-tracking systems
- Produce reports with reproduction steps, diagnostic data, and recommended actions
- Conduct root cause analyses for recurring issues with cross-functional teams
- Translate technical data into actions for long-term system improvements
- Recommend and implement process improvements and preventive measures
- Participate in pre-test and post-test vehicle evaluations
- Serve as the technical point of contact during vehicle testing
- Streamline troubleshooting protocols, automate diagnostics, and improve data capture
- Travel up to 10%
