About the Role
You will administer state and local tax compliance for partnership entities across multiple United States jurisdictions. You will prepare tax-close reports, schedules, work papers, reconciliations, journal entries, filing documentation, and payment support. You will coordinate with external advisors and internal stakeholders, research tax requirements, manage notices and deadlines, maintain tax and fixed-asset records, identify compliance risks, improve processes, and mentor associate accounting staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- 2+ years of tax or accounting experience, preferably with state and local tax compliance responsibilities.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to work with large data sets and identify inconsistencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to manage recurring compliance deadlines and prioritize tasks across multiple jurisdictions and projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare reports, schedules, reconciliations, work papers, and tax-related journal entries for quarterly and year-end tax close processes.
- Administer state and local tax compliance for partnership entities operating across multiple United States states.
- Gather, organize, and validate apportionment, partner, payroll, revenue, and fixed-asset data for tax returns and compliance calculations.
- Maintain state tax work papers, filing calendars, payment support, and documentation.
- Support estimated tax payments, extensions, withholding payments, composite tax payments, and other state and local tax obligations.
- Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments and coordinate timely remittance across applicable jurisdictions.
- Administer California and Illinois pass-through entity tax programs.
- Assist with reviews of tax notices, correspondence, account issues, and jurisdictional inquiries.
- Research state and local tax laws, filing requirements, nexus considerations, apportionment rules, and withholding obligations.
- Identify state and local tax issues, risks, and planning opportunities and discuss them with senior tax staff.
- Maintain detailed state and local tax records in accordance with policies and compliance requirements.
- Maintain fixed-asset records and tax depreciation schedules.
- Improve tax compliance processes, data collection, calendar management, and operational efficiency.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to associate accounting staff.
