About the Role
You will represent the project locally, build relationships with authorities, political stakeholders, community groups, and other partners, and maintain an engagement plan. You will deliver consultations and public meetings, manage concerns and risks, support project decisions, develop local partnerships, and provide leadership updates.
Requirements
- 3–8 years of experience in community engagement, public affairs, local government, or a related field
- Understanding of local communities and decision-making structures, particularly the UK planning system
- Stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure, development, or construction projects
- Experience in politically sensitive or regulated environments
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, political stakeholders, and community groups
- Develop and maintain a stakeholder map and engagement plan
- Design and deliver community engagement programmes, consultations, public meetings, and briefings
- Track enquiries, complaints, and emerging issues
- Escalate political, media, and community risks early
- Embed community engagement in project delivery and decisions
- Develop local-impact communications and partnerships
- Provide briefings and insight on local political and community risks
