About the Role
You will lead supplier development for airframe, propulsion, landing-gear, and precision-machined hardware. You will assess capabilities and readiness, industrialize production, resolve quality and delivery issues, conduct onsite recovery efforts, manage qualification and first-article activities, and improve capacity, manufacturing processes, and supplier performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
- 7 or more years of relevant experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing
- Supplier development and complex manufacturing, quality, capacity, or delivery issue-resolution experience
- Experience with relevant mechanical commodity areas
- Knowledge of machining, fabrication, composites, casting, forging, welding, heat treatment, plating, coating, finishing, and assembly
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, bills of material, and specifications
- Experience conducting supplier audits, capability assessments, capacity analyses, and readiness reviews
- Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems
- Experience with 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone root-cause analysis
- Knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, process capability, statistical process control, and inspection
- Ability to lead cross-functional supplier improvement initiatives
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier technical development and performance improvement
- Assess supplier capabilities, capacity, quality systems, tooling, and production readiness
- Conduct supplier assessments, audits, capacity analyses, and onsite evaluations
- Evaluate and select suppliers with sourcing and engineering partners
- Lead supplier industrialization, qualification, and production ramp-up
- Review drawings, specifications, GD&T, bills of material, and manufacturing requirements
- Drive design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly improvements
- Develop supplier development, readiness, recovery, and corrective-action plans
- Resolve manufacturing, quality, capacity, and delivery issues
- Review and approve supplier manufacturing documentation
- Coordinate AS9102 First Article Inspection activities
- Evaluate production capacity and support engineering changes and new product introductions
- Lead supplier recovery efforts and communicate risks and corrective actions
- Implement lean manufacturing and process improvements
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, AS9102, and applicable requirements
- Mentor supplier development, quality, and supply chain personnel
- Travel to supplier facilities
