About the Role

You will own the architecture of critical software across mission planning, backend services, telemetry, and autonomous aircraft systems. You will lead high-risk vehicle-software work, design 3D mission-planning architecture, scale fleet telemetry, and apply AI tools. You will align technical plans across disciplines, mentor engineers, and improve engineering standards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Production proficiency in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, and C++
  • Experience architecting and shipping user interfaces, 3D experiences, backend services, and systems software
  • Experience designing distributed systems and APIs for performance, reliability, load balancing, and observability
  • Experience with aviation, robotics, autonomous systems, or software connected to real-world hardware
  • Applied AI fluency
  • Experience setting standards, driving designs, and mentoring engineers
  • Ability to debug across application, network, operating system, and hardware boundaries
  • U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or eligibility under applicable export control regulations

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and evolution of mission planning, backend services, telemetry infrastructure, and autonomous aircraft software
  • Set technical standards through design, code review, and decision-making
  • Lead architecture and safety-relevant changes to the ArduPilot C++ fork
  • Design 3D visualization and mission-planning architecture
  • Architect and scale the telemetry hub
  • Apply AI and machine learning to engineering automation, data analysis, debugging, and operator tools
  • Turn priorities into technical plans validated through simulation and flight testing
  • Mentor senior engineers and improve architecture, testing, CI/CD, observability, and documentation
