About the Role

Define technical direction for foundational software systems in the Middle East, designing architectures, APIs, and integrations primarily with Go. Lead multi-team initiatives, optimize performance, ensure reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance, establish engineering standards, coordinate infrastructure and vendors, mentor engineers, and drive strategic technical reviews.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Exceptional expertise in system design, architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Expert-level mastery of Go or similar backend languages.
  • Experience building scalable, high-availability systems handling high transaction volumes.
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
  • Extensive experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, pub/sub, and asynchronous processing.
  • Ability to independently lead complex, multi-team initiatives.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills across multiple systems.
  • Extensive unit, integration, and end-to-end testing experience.
  • Deep expertise with GCP, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.
  • Leadership in strategic discussions and organizational technical direction.
  • Exceptional mentoring, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within the Middle East region.
  • Financial systems, fintech, distributed systems, microservices, or regulatory compliance experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Architect foundational software systems using Go or similar languages.
  • Design event-driven architectures, message queues, and asynchronous processing systems.
  • Build and maintain APIs, services, and integrations.
  • Optimize system performance at scale and resolve systemic issues.
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish coding standards, testing practices, and development processes.
  • Lead complex multi-team initiatives from conception to delivery.
  • Coordinate infrastructure, cloud providers, data center vendors, and managed service providers.
  • Define vendor management strategies and ensure SLAs are met.
  • Mentor engineers across all levels and share technical knowledge.
  • Document architectural decisions and communicate technical guidance.
  • Own strategic initiative outcomes and manage associated risks.
  • Improve tooling, monitoring, testing, and observability practices.
