About the Role
You will design, implement, and maintain scalable brokerage systems for the Japan market. You will build middle- and back-office services, APIs, and vendor integrations; translate local regulatory and partner requirements into technical specifications; improve the global platform; and troubleshoot production incidents during Japan business hours.
Requirements
- Native or JLPT N1 Japanese fluency
- Business-level English fluency
- Experience designing and developing complex financial systems
- Understanding of accounting principles, ledger structures, and transaction reconciliation
- Experience building scalable, highly available multi-currency financial applications
- Familiarity with financial-market regulatory compliance, preferably in Japan
- Proficiency in a statically typed language such as Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, C#, Scala, or C++
- Experience with financial APIs, market-data integrations, and trade settlement
- Software engineering architecture experience
- Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven design
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote global team
- Ability to lead and troubleshoot incidents during Japan business hours
Responsibilities
- Design scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems for the Japan market
- Develop middle- and back-office systems, gRPC microservices, APIs, and third-party vendor integrations
- Enhance the core framework to support multiple languages, currencies, markets, and Japan-specific requirements
- Collaborate with global technical leads to align engineering work
- Translate Japanese regulatory, vendor, partner, and business requirements into technical specifications
- Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs
- Participate in on-call rotations and address production issues during Japan business hours
