About the Role

You will own the data platform end to end while remaining hands-on. You will define its roadmap, design production data models and search systems, build pipelines and a warehouse, establish metrics and data-quality practices, instrument the customer lifecycle, and make pragmatic architecture and build-versus-buy decisions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering, data engineering, or related experience
  • Experience owning complex data systems
  • Experience defining and building data architecture
  • Expertise in relational database design, schemas, indexing, query patterns, and consistency tradeoffs
  • Experience building production data pipelines, warehouses, and analytical data models
  • Experience building production search systems and evaluating retrieval quality
  • Experience shipping reliable production code and making architecture decisions
  • Ability to translate business needs into durable data systems

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the data platform roadmap
  • Own production data modeling, schemas, and access patterns
  • Lead multimodal indexing and search across images, documents, and text
  • Build and own data pipelines across production databases, product events, and third-party systems
  • Build the warehouse, governed metrics, and self-service tooling
  • Instrument the customer lifecycle
  • Set standards for data quality, contracts, and observability
  • Make architecture and build-versus-buy decisions
