About the Role
You will design and build the control plane for the curated data lifecycle, including dependency-aware orchestration, backfills, restatements, retries, partial failures, and recovery. You will define data contracts, choose and own production architectures, build reliable data-quality alerting, and break ambiguous problems into sequenced work that engineers can deliver.
Requirements
- Experience as a backend engineer with deep data-systems expertise or as a data engineer with strong software-engineering expertise
- Experience shipping production services
- Experience building or materially extending orchestration and scheduling systems
- Experience handling schema evolution and data correctness for downstream consumers
- Experience building or operating stateful stream processing in production
- Strong SQL and data-modeling skills on large datasets
- Computer science fundamentals and distributed-systems understanding
- Ability to independently debug and drive root-cause analysis
- Ability to use AI tools effectively and understand their failure modes
- Clear written communication skills in a distributed team
Responsibilities
- Design and build the control plane for the curated data lifecycle
- Orchestrate dependency-aware models, backfills, restatements, retries, failure handling, and recovery
- Choose and own the architecture for models, services, and jobs through production
- Design contracts between ingestion and curation
- Build alerting and data-quality signals
- Work across Go, Kotlin, Rust, Python, and SQL
- Break large problems into sequenced work that other engineers can own
